Description
E-Wrap Endothermic Wrap is a protective wrap designed for fire protection of critical circuits and infrastructure such as fire pumps, signaling equipment, elevators, alarms, process control equipment, emergency responder communications enhancement systems (ERCES) as well as fuel oil piping. When installed around Electrical Metallic Tubing (EMT), conduits, cable trays, or pipes, E-Wrap releases chemically bound water to have a cooling effect providing up to 2 hours of protection ensuring continued operation under fire conditions.
Applications
Specifications
The approved protective wrap product shall be a flexible, endothermic insulative wrap for the protection of electrical systems such as Electrical Metallic Tubing (EMT), conduits, cable trays, or pipes for up to 2 hours. The approved protective wrap shall be capable of being installed in layers and secured with minimum 16 GA (1.3 mm) steel tie wire to protect encapsulated items against the effects of fire and heat. The product shall be capable of providing equal F & T Ratings when applied to membrane penetrations of utility boxes. The approved protective wrap shall be certified by UL and Intertek. The approved product shall be STI E-Wrap™ Endothermic Wrap.
Installation Information
Typical tools required include razor knifes, aviation snips or electric cutting shears, measuring and marking implements, aluminum foil tape, No. 16 AWG steel tie wire or stainless steel banding straps. Refer to Intertek or UL System and determine required number of layers. Follow design listing requirements for joints, seams, and overlaps. Mechanically restrain protective wrap with appropriate steel tie wire or stainless steel banding straps.
Storage Information
Material to be stored in floored, covered warehouse and protected from rain, water, other liquids, and inclement weather where moisture and dampness may deteriorate product. Direct liquid contact will be detrimental and destructive to insulating and physical properties. Store on pallets, timber or concrete blocks to prevent moisture absorption from the ground. Do not stack pallets to prevent compression of insulation.
Maintenance
No maintenance is ordinarily needed. If foil scrim is damaged, repair with aluminum foil tape and maintain min. 2 in. (51 mm) overlap. For more extensive damage, remove and repair as per original design listing.
